The main objective of the FASTPHASE project is to study the physics of ultrafast phase transitions induced by intense transient electric fields in materials close to a phase instability, in order to control phase changes in the ultrafast limit. In particular, the dynamic modification and control of photoinduced metastable ferroelectric phases in para-, antiferro- and ferroelectric materials at the vicinity of a para-electric to ferroelectric or antiferroelectric to ferroelectric phase transition will be investigated. This agility will be sought in ferroelectric and antiferroelectric thin films.
FASTPHASE is a collaborative project funded by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) for the period 01/2025 – 12/2028. The consortium consists of four partners: the Institute of Physics of Rennes (IPR), Rennes Institute of Chemical Sciences (ISCR), Laboratory of Solid-State Physics (LPS) in Orsay and the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble.
