Malo Bézard awarded the 2025 Favard Prize of the french microscopy society

Our former PhD student Malo Bezard in STEM group at Laboratoire de Physique des Solides (LPS), has received the Favard Prize from the Société française des microscopies (Sfµ) for his outstanding PhD thesis:

“Optical Polarization, Spatial Coherence, and High-Q Photonic Cavities in an Electron Microscope.”

His work opened new avenues in nano-optics by demonstrating spatially resolved measurements of circular dichroism and ultra-high-Q optical modes coupled to the electron beam, using advanced EELS, CL, and CLE techniques.

Malo is currently a postdoc in IMPMC since April 2025, working in the PALM team on the structural characterization of amorphous calcium carbonates in cyanobacteria.

👏 Congrats, Malo, and all the best for the exciting future!
